From Scene to Script

The workshop From Scene to Script is mentored by Toma Zidić, art director of our partner festival Kratki na brzinu, scheduled to take place this year for the third time in a small town of Sveti Ivan Zelina. With 12 little creative kids, three-hour workshop participants, he will watch short films from Not a Joke competition and then seek and develop ideas for their first ever scripts. Together they will try to write opening scenes. However, KinoKino Festival is only the beginning! The most zealous little screenwriters will immediately after the festival continue writing their scripts mentored by Toma. At the festival Kratki na brzinu in May, a special jury will choose three best scripts. And that’s not all! One of these scripts will be chosen for realisation in November by a group of little creative participants of the popular Bib for Kids (Zagreb Film Festival) film workshop!

Toma Zidić

Toma Zidić was born 1988 in Zagreb. A director and screenwriter with ten years of experience. He first became involved in filmmaking in 2004 at the Zagreb Film Club and by now he has directed ten short films, two stage plays, several music videos and commissioned films. He is the art director of the festival Kratki na brzinu. As a kid his favourite hero was Bugs Bunny and if it weren’t for him, he would never be in film; he was haunted by the question: what does this Rabbit do off screen? The childhood curiosity made him focus on film more seriously. At KinoKino Festival Toma is here to answer all of your questions and help you with the ideas for your first film.
